rico.29
hello, i tried to pour glitter i've bought in a special lurecraft place, and it burns when i pour them in plastisol before to heat 2mn at micro oven (at 800wt), it also burns when i pour them in hot plastic after 2 mn heating. so what happens? are my glitter not made for pouring lure? costumer said they are. or i'm doing something wrong. i've very thin part in my mold so i can't heat less than 2mn. Thank you for helping.
nova
Don't heat for 2 minutes straight. Heat the plastic in stages then add the glitter.

nova
Probably the easiest way is to tell you how I do it. 8 oz plastic in a pyrex with the colors added and stirred. Heat for 1.5 mins. Take out and stir then return for 1 min. Take out and stir and return for 30 secs. To re-heat while pouring I return to micro for 30 secs. Black glitter is the easiest to burn. rico.29
at the moment, the only way i found to use glitter without get them burnt is to spray glitter in the mold before to pour , but glitter stay on the "surface " of the lure and not in the body lure look like the one on the photo i post on "plastic lure" album. harley-cowboy
Try getting good glitter. The glitter at craft stores usually burns and curls. Try some glitter from Senko Sam, M-F, Dels, Lurecraft. I bought cheap "BARGIN" gliiter once and it did the same thing. I threw it out. ALSO, as Nova said, Heat for 1 minute then at 30 second intervals.
Senkosam
A good grade of heat resistant glitter should not burn or crumple at even 300 degrees. I heat Del's plastisol to around 300 and stir to get the bubbles to the sides, add dye, glitter, softener and maybe salt, stir well, heat for 5 more seconds until thin like Karo syrup, and pour. Some glitter curling is to be expected over 320 and violet is prone to bleed at that temp, but the glitter hue should be the same and visible in plastic that is lightly colored vs. deeply colored. Cooking plastic too fast for the first time, will cause browning or yellowing from searing and carbon chunks will form. Heat/ stir/ let sit in stages!
