Pop
It's getting late, my eyes are tired, but; my calculator agrees with me. I must come to the conclusion that there is something I don't understand. I checked LC for glitter pricing. The 4 oz was cheaper per ounce than the 1/2 lb. Now there was 8 oz to 1/2 lb the last time I checked. One would think the larger size would be cheaper. What am I missing? Any comments. dtrs5kprs
Think the catalog is a little jacked up there...MF is a lot cheaper, if you can use up the bulk quantities.
alsworms
Maybe it has something to do with their shipping method. I once ordered a 1/2 pound of black flake from Lure Craft, and they put it in a 10x10 ziplog baggie. Only a third of the baggie was filled with flake. Didn't make sense to me. I now buy all my flake from MF. The flake comes in nice convenient cannisters, and like Dave said.....much better prices too. Chris
LJMLuke
Pop, I was wondering about that as well. I was figuring on buying the 4oz all the time! I just got off the phone with Dave from LC, unfortunately we are wrong. The 4oz is actually 4 fluid ounces. The 1/2 lb is the actually weighs 1/2 pound. There is alot more in the 1/2 pound than in 2 4 fluid ounce jars. So I guess we will have to look closer at what we are ordering. They are always trying to get us with something!! Hope this helps! LJMLuke
Dave and Chris, What am I missing? I compared my LC catalog to MF's website and from what I see MF is more expensive for glitter and everything else. Even the larger quantities. 1lb LC glitter is $19.50, 1lb MF glitter is $20.50. Then, worm oil, plastic, All more at MF. The only thing I saw that was cheaper was the colors if you buy a pint or quart, but if you buy anything smaller MF is alot more expensive. I will give you the address I used. http://www.fishingworld.com/M-F-Manufacturing/ thanks Luke
alsworms
You are right on the button Luke Didn't notice that until you posted. For some of the more popular glitter (black, red, green, etc.), I buy in 3-5 pound sizes and get a significant discount with MF. However, I'm sure Lure Craft would offer those discounts too. LJMLuke
Chris, Yeah, we don't get a break buying a pound even though to us little guys it sounds like alot. Thats ok, I am happy making my worms at $.08 to $.10 each instead of buying them at $.60 or $.70 each!! Luke
dtrs5kprs
Qty discounts are the key. Have used flake from both companies, think overall you ruin less batches with the MF (to scorching, clumping, hot spotting, etc). MF also has WAY more colors. Guess the price is also going to vary based on the weighing method discussed previously. ***Oil is one of the things MF is cheaper on...both the scented and unscented lubricating oil...plain was around $13-15/gal if I remember my last invoice correctly.
