LJMLuke
Hey guys, I wanted to let you all know that I bought a GE one touch coffee grinder and it doesn't work after 2 weeks of use grinding salt. I am going to return it today and try another one. This one was $20. Luke
LJMLuke
Hey guys, Can any one tell me a good grinder to get? Wal-mart didn't have any others. thanks Luke
earthworm77
Buy popcorn salt....I got that from Chris...it worked and saves blender blades.
dtrs5kprs
The "bakers" salt from lurecraft is really pretty well suited for pouring/sprinkling. I do use coarse non-iodized for senkos and tubes. If you are really serious about getting a fine flake you need to use a ceramic mortar and pestle...from a kitchen store or pharmacy supply outfit. Maze
If there is an Asian Grocery near by, you can get a mortor and pestal there at a good price, I did ! Check the Vietnamese or Thai stores. Maze
Mercury
I have the LC's bakers salt. But it still is not fine enough. I still use a blender and turn it to powder. When loading the salt level to a high %, it doesnt pour well. popcorn salt is just plain cheep. Buy it buy the tons for a few $$. Lure craft does charge you a pretty penny for the salt and then to ship it. Buy 25# of popcorn salt under 10.00 I think. Get it localy and faster. Talked to a few guys that would order it from the food supliers and get some steaks delivered as well to make a 25.00 minimum get free delivery and have a bar B Q the same day! LJMLuke
Guys, Thanks for all your replies!! LC's salt is definately too expensive. I buy no name brand stuff at the grocery store at 26oz for $.50, LC is much more then the shipping. I asked the grocery store for popcorn salt but no one has heard of it. Nor has wal-mart. I do like my salt pretty coarse, I pour only senkos right now. I don't know if the popcorn salt may even be too fine for me! I want the salt to be noticable in the senko, feel it and see it when I hook the senko. Luke
Mercury
I would still check the food distrobution companys. The ones that supply the food to resteraunts. Salt is verry cheep. You can get the salt at sams club, cost-co, etc.
alsworms
I looked in our yellow pages under "popcorn" and believe it or not, there were a few places that popped up; those companies who supply carnivals, fairs, etc. Fortunately, there is a supplier just a few miles from me, and I buy it by the case for around 25 bucks. I bought a case a year ago and have only used half now. Do some searches on popcorn, carnivals, fairs, food distributors, etc. and you should find someone who has it. Bruce from The Drop Shot Store had a very good recommendation last year. He told me to check with your local grocery store (Albertson's, Save Mart, etc.). They only sell in small sizes (4 ounces or so), but he said to check with the manager about buying the cases. I was just about to do that when I stumbled on our local popcorn supplier. Hope this helps By the way, I probably won't be around as much lately. It's not that I don't love you guys (sob, sob!).......we've been having some medical problems with our son and it has taken its toll. Any prayers you guys are willing to offer would be greatly appreciated! Chris
