I am going through a serious mental block creating stuff here lately. I am wanting to make a top water lure with soft plastic. Something different, but I am having no luck with a design. I used to try to force it but that rarely works. Just poke around the web. Not with the idea of copying some one else; but just for a spark to ignite your creative fire. chirmy Posted November 8, 2005 Report Share Posted November 8, 2005 guy at ICAST had a large "grub". When used with a special jig head it would flip flop on top of the water. Doesnt work without the jig heat ie. the weight to cast. 2 noticables were the tail on the grub was 6 to 8 inches long and the jig head sort of had wings. The seasons pretty much at an end for me up here so I haven't had time to try it but you can try a pour if you want. Not sure if it will work but it made sense after I thought about a soft plastic topwater. Take a look and let me know if its something do-able. chirmy Posted November 15, 2005 Report Share Posted November 15, 2005 here is a picture of the grub I mentioned, the jig head on this one is a fatratz, the guy who gave this to me would not give me the jighead that went with it. on a fast retrive this thing flaps the surface similar to a buzzbait. I think I could do something with a huge wide curly tail, and add some type of body to it. Anyone ever tried to make a soft plastic popper or spook type bait? You can get that stuff for free at most windshield replacement shops. The stuff is ground so fine that it's just like hi-lite powders.
