ragfly
I have looked around at all the molds available and it is obvious that I need to make my own mold to get the exact type bait I want. Which will be the Lunker city Fin-S fish without the hook slit in the bottom and instead of a tappered head more square (to fit the shad jigheads I pour). I have a dremel tool I can use. Are molds made out of wood? I was thinking of something like beech wood. What would you recommend.
Travis
Plaster of paris and Durhams Rock Puddy are probably the two best to use as a beginner, both can give great results if a little time and care is taken. Plenty of how to info previously discussed. Also check out the tutorials.
vishezfish
I made mine out of plaster.... U might be able to close the split in the middle with a candle or other hot device.... Mine came out good.... I catch bass on em!
nova
A neat little trick to repair a bait or to "close up the split" is to take a pair of pliers and a thin piece of metal about 1/4" wide and 1 1/2" long. Heat the metal with a torch (I use a micro torch) until it is red hot. Then just pass the metal between the 2 pieces you want to seal and presto. You may have to practice to get the speed at which you slide the metal to get the best results. It's great for sealing up hook-tears as well.
