i am new and need some help

Recommended Posts

ok so i have been reading some of the posts and i am still confused about making my own soft plastics. How to you melt the plastics down. Where can i buy the plastics to use for baits. Is there and easier way to make a mold besides the way the tutorial does it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. winter is coming up soon and i am going to need something to do.

Welcome to the boards!

To get started all you will need is a gallon of plastisol, a few choices of dye and glitter, a microwave and some pyrex cups. (or a lee production pot). Most of this can be purchased from lurecraft (www.lurecraft.com) or some others like MF. (click on the tackle components link found on this site)

As far as molds, this is a long discussion. If I were you I would just pick a mold from lurecraft to get started. You may decide you dont like pouring your own baits and you dont want to waste alot of time making molds until you are sure you like it.

After you get your supplies, shout back and we can get you started easily.

Good Luck

I'm new to the soft plastics too. I've found the actual heating and pouring to be quite easy. The mold making is easier than reading the tutorial. With all the support I've had form Kidlizard, The Drop Shot Store, SouthStatesFishin', Alsworms, redg8r and the others in the group here, all has gone smooth. I find the plaster mold building a relaxing and satisfying pass time. I'll put up a photo in the gallery, or check out my new-(2day old) website for a look at my plaster mold and a few of the baits I've poured.
