cranker
I know this is getting a little off base to ask this on a site dedicated to tackle building, but I figured that if anyone could help me with this that surely a bunch of fellow fisherman may be able to.I have a 2003 model Stratos 18XL that has a driver and passenger seat but not a middle low back seat to give full bench seating.I have called stratos and they do make one for this boat but they are very, very proud of them. They come as a two peice seat that cost around $300.00. Does anyone here know of or heard of anyone that can custom make the center seats like these to match the original seat style that stratos offers.I have searched high and low on the internet but have not ran across anybody that does this.If all else fails I will order the seat from stratos but I sure had rather find someone thats not quite that much proud of them. Thanks, Cranker.
onlybass
I would check your local upohlsterers. Many of them are slow in the winter and would like to pick up boat work and that is good timing for anglers.I had 2 bucket seats re-upohlstered for less than $200 before striking a "sponsor deal".I would request that they use plastic(ABS?) for frame and stainless steel hardware. If Stratos is charging $300 I would guess half that or more is mark-up.Might look at existing seats for manufacturer and contact directly.I have heard that insurance companies "salvage" totaled boats, but I have no idea where that outlet would be. cranker
Thank you for the information. It gives me some good ideas to work with. You're rite about the mark up from stratos and its a darn shame that the manufacturers hit you as hard as they try to on parts or equipment when you need them. These guys have no loyalty whatsoever to the folks who buy their high priced boats and keep them in business and so far after owning several different brands of boats I will finally have to admit that the guys at ranger boats seem to be a little more down to earth and willing to help their customers out. These people at stratos act like they have done you a favor by selling you their boat!!
