The Dutchman
I would like to know what "neon" color is and how it is made. Black neon, White neon, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Joe
nova
Black neon is simply black with lots of red flake.
alsworms
This is a good question because everyone has their own opinion of what neon should be. Simply put, here is one of the definitions taken directly from Webster's online encylopedia: An extremely bright color. Really explains it well, doesn't it?? :-D My idea of neon is taking a base color and making it "stand out". Some colors need to be brightened to achieve this effect. Some do not. Like Nova said, black neon is simply black with red flake. The red flake gives the black a certain "kick". Most other neon colors (blue, green, gold, etc.) need the base color, hi-lite powder, and a touch of black for a nice neon effect. The best way to tell if you have a good neon color is by looking at your bait in the water. If you're throwing a smoke - blue neon worm, the bait will appear dark with flashes of blue accented by the neon. Kind of hard to explain, but you'll know it when you see it.
The Dutchman
Chris. So I understand - If I want blue neon I have blue coloring with a touch of blue hi-lite and a touch (drop) of black. If I want Green neon I want a green color with a touch of green hi-lite and a drop of black. Is this right? What is white neon - read it in Bass mag? Thanks. alsworms
Joe...... You've got it with the neon colors. I've never heard of white neon, and honestly don't know how you'd go about making white a neon color?? Anyone have any ideas??
TTDuckman
White is such a strong color to overcome, maybe holo glitter. It would a take a canoe and half load of it to power through the white. I am very new at this. But I have used white a few times to try to change a shade and even a drop or two can completely ruin an 8 oz batch of plastic. Tim
