earthworm77
Max it may work but now you are spraying something that is likely toxic on your filter to hopefully recharge them to 100% strength......hopefully and will it block the toxicity of the spray? I'd replace them regularly or vent my area properly.
maximusgunn
I think I need to rephrase my question. The carbon blocker is used to recharge hunting clothes that contain carbon fibers as well as those that don't. It is non toxic . It is used to eliminate/block scent. I know it can block scent enough to allow a deer within 10 feet of me. Any thoughts?
JD
I use a mask for every pour. I used to get slight headaches and a dry throat when I poured. I purchased a mask from a gelcoat supplier. It's a 3M organic vapor mask, $20 disposable or you can get refill cartridges. You'll smell the plastic once it becomes ineffective. They work. http://www.shopmaninc.com/safety.html
GEE GEE BAITS
I have tried many different ways to ventilate, but the most effective way so far is to connect 3 bathroom ceiling fans and hang them directly over the pots about 12 inches from the top. This sucks all the fumes out and through flexible metal dryer tubes and out the door of the garage. I then keep another small fan on to blow any extra smoke or fumes coming from the molds after they are poured. You can't tell I'm pouring in the garage unless you are standing outside where the exhaust is blowing. I side note...you must seal all the seams on the fans so they don't blow down on you or your on your work. I will try to submit a pic of the fans. earthworm77
Gee Gee, that's a good set up, I had something similar when I was in NY. I had a professional overhead ventilation system very close to the top of the pots to take everything out quickly before it dispersed into the air. budro
I have been pouring for 5 years and recently been pouring a lot. Have had a lot of nose bleeds lately - I think I am going to invest in a mask. I pour in the garage but it gets cold here in Wisconsin - going to also look into better vent system. thanks for the info Budro
jmik26
Budro - Do you use calhoun? I was experiencing the same thing... Since then I changed to lurecraft plastic and had no problems.
budro
I am a big lurecraft fan! I just don't vent very well because of the cold. Does not matter - I am on vacation next week! Going to Lake Guntersville - no pouring for awhile :-D
RockfishRand
I have been using Lurecraft plastic, and it has less of an odor, but I still went down and bought a mask at the local home warehouse store. $28. I started using it right away and no more headaches! It really is pretty comfortable, at least now while it is winter.
