woodsac
I just received my order from Calhoun I just want to know a rough estimate on how much softener to add to get the consistency of Lure Craft 536. Not any softer. The Calhoun is a 5 gallon. I like the 536 just the way it is for my crawdads. I add softener as needed for my dropshot baits. alsworms
2 cups should do the trick in a 5-gallon container. Chris
woodsac
Thanks Chris! That will save me tons of time!
earthworm77
I agree with the rec. of 2 cups. I use very little of it and it seems to go a long way. If you use heat stabilizer, use it sparingly as well.
woodsac
Since you brought it up, how much heat stabilizer for the same bucket?
alsworms
Hey Woodsac, I'm not sure what Earthworm does, but I don't use heat stabilizer unless I'm pouring senkos or chunks (with tons of salt). I set a separate 5-gallon jug aside just for those baits. About 1/3 cup of stabilizer for a 5-gallon jug will do the trick. Be very careful and precise when adding that stuff. It flat stinks! Otherwise, Calhoun plastic has plenty of stabilizer in it already, and you shouldn't have any problems. Chris
earthworm77
Wood, I pour in small volume and put about a teaspoon and a half per 6oz. It is a must when pouring lighter colors to prevent any discoloring. I also put it in when I'm salting my plastic which is most often.
