Joe S.
Speaking of glitter When I first started making baits, before I found this site I used lure crafts products, then slowly moved to del's once I found out about his stuff on here, Well I just got my first jar of glitter from him to try and see if I like it , 4 oz. at $5.55. I said to myself cool it's a buck and some change cheaper than LC . Well I got the jar and was amazed at the size of the jar it was about twice the size of LC's But they both say 4 oz. Do they use different measuring sytems or something?
millsryno
Maybe one is selling by 4 oz. weight and the other by 4 oz. volume?
wannabefishing
Think it says on Senk's Sam's website taht LC weighs it with the jar, so you get 3oz glitter plus 1oz for the jar... believe i read that on his site.... And i also buy 95% of my glitter from SS, eventho it's not half as much as other, great guy to deal with, top notch service and product!! TTDuckman
For the guys using the "sugar" in place of salt, it appears that it would cost $5 for a batch of sticks if you are going with the 4 oz per cup. What are the advantages? Does it create a very see through bait? If my calculations are correct, each bait would cost $0.14 per bait in "sugar" alone verses less than a penny per bait with salt. In addition, do you have problems with his glitter bleeding or melting, since he states that it is only made to handle 300 degrees. Thank you, Tim
wannabefishing
I've never had any issues with bleeding or curling... that's just MY experience tho.... i absolutely love the fuschia colour he has, any baits i pour that have purple flake, fuschia goes in aswell!!! with the sugar, i use 1/2 sugar/salt or 1/4 salt 3/4 sugar... the sugar i find makes the bait a bit harder, but using 1/2 and 1/2 keeps the bait translucent just enough to see the glitter through to the center of the bait, really only use it in firetiger and in baits that use several different glitter colours (3 or more)... The only colour he doesn't have that i'm dying to get my hands on is PINK... and his shipping prices ROCK, especially with all the free samples he sends with it!!!... he definately deserves a pat on the back... especially for all the confusion i cause making him ship to a US address when i live in Canada lol Someone should post a link to his site, i lost it when i did a reformat on my computer.... Senkosam
TTDuckman For the guys using the "sugar" in place of salt, it appears that it would cost $5 for a batch of sticks if you are going with the 4 oz per cup. What are the advantages? Does it create a very see through bait? If my calculations are correct, each bait would cost $0.14 per bait in "sugar" alone verses less than a penny per bait with salt. Sugar is $1.25/oz. and 2 oz. goes a long way, especially if used to keep floured salt suspended. It allows bait durability and if you want a softer bait, use the usual amount of softener. If you want heavier baits, there's nothing better than salt as far as I know. I like sugar in place of pearl powder because from what I've seen, a bass's belly is milky white. The price of pearl is far greater. The longer the stick, the less softener needed and the stick will still have twice the action of a hard jerk stick when twitched (t-rigged, wacky or split shot). As an experiment, I wanted to see if salt water plastic sticks would work, so I poured some of Del mold T-sticks in 4 and 5" last year. My partner and I did very well, even though the sticks were a little stiffer than usual. If people want super soft Senkos that fall apart just to get that little extra bit of wiggle, let them pay 70 cents each per stick. I think all of our sticks do well at half the cost to the cconsumer. I just wish he offered a discount on larger orders The best I can do is to cap shipping at four bucks no matter how much is ordered. For frequent customers, I've been giving breaks on shipping and even rebated money back to their Pay Pal accounts in appreciation. Del and I agree - container weight should not be included in net weight. It's misleading. M-F is up front with their pint and quart measurements, so you can figure out cost per oz. M-F has a great selection, but you have to buy more than 4oz. to avoid a large per unit cost. (Jeff Smith from M-F emailed me the following: pint of glitter is 16 ounces, close to 1/2lb., the quart of glitter is 32 ounces close to 1lb. in the jumbo and the whiskers. As far as the standard pack of .008, .015, .035 is sold by weight.) Excellent products and service!! Hey, maybe their purple isn't grape and doesn't bleed like LC's. LOL
GB GONE
While the "sugar" does add to the cost of the sticks, I want something in my g-sticks that is going to set them apart from all the other "salt" sticks out there. I have had GY senko diehards switch over to my sticks after sound "on-the-water" beatings... Cost more...yes...better product...yes!!!! Thanks again Frank!!!
