Haven?t ordered yet - still trying to figure out exactly what I want. I talked to Shawn about making a two part mold for a D0-It shad head 9 style jig mold with recessed eyes and modified bait holder for swimbaits. Since it?s a slight modification, from a standard mold that he makes, brings the cost way down.

Don?t have much experience with one part custom aluminum molds, other than 2 eBay purchases, so I don?t know if Shawn?s are expensive or not. They seem very reasonable ? given the shared info on the cost of machining aluminum molds. You might want to give him a call.

I have discussed molds with Shawn. The mold I was looking for would be custom....set-up costs: $150.00 then go from there on the cost of the mold.

One big advantage you may see from Shawn is that he will cut molds from lexan as well as aluminum. Pricing will be better and in a 2 part mold, you will be able to see how much of the mold has filled....

If you find out anymore information on this please keep us informed, I have a income tax check burning a hole in my pocket :D I am sure we all feel the same way, we need more manufactures of molds.

I wonder if anybody has thought of being a distrubutor of standard aluminum molds. That way the CNC guys could get the BIG orders to keep there machines running and bait pourers wouldn't have to wait 2 months to get "in stock" molds. Does anybody know if Bob's Tackle is back up and running?
