GB GONE
I just opened my most recent 5 gallon container of M-F super soft plastisol. While pouring with it last night, I noticed a different, more "plastic" smell to the finished baits. Has anyone else noticed this? I pour everyday so I was quick to note the different smell once the plastisol was "cooked." The finished product is just as in the past but the hint of the plastic smell is much greater. Almost like the 3-G plastisol of years past. Jim
Senkosam
Reminds me of LC's sharp odor, plus I've had some yellowing over 320. It surprised me because the samples M-F sent were great! Never had the smell with Del's plastic (just bubbles, which I'll go back to the pot to correct).
GB GONE
I only noticed it with the most recent batch Frank. I have had ZERO problems with yellowing in the year + of using M-F. I am wondering if there has been a formula change or something. The final baits are still SUPER SOFT!!!! Jim
jmik26
I had a sample of MF sent out about 4 weeks ago and it also had a strong smell to it. Final product was perfect just had more of a sent when heating then Lurecraft.
GB GONE
I'm going to give the guys at M-F a ring and see what has changed (if anything). The smell will not keep from using the plastic as just an extra drop or 2 of scent masks it well. I'll report back... Jim
D.J.
My M-F has a strong odor as well. It smells up my entire shop. It still pours great though.
Senkosam
Jim, the yellowing is only in the salt water plastic formula. Regular formula also smells, but no yellowing. I didn't expect the smell after what people wrote on this forum and I never had to open a window either.
millsryno
I noticed that M-F has more of a heat stabilizer smell to it. Is that what you are smelling?
GB GONE
Could be Ryan...Maybe M-F will chime in here...or are you scared the topic will disappear??!!!!
GB GONE
Update guys....This one was totally my fault  . The inside of my mic was dripping "something" into the pyrex cup. It smelled strong whatever it was collecting up there!!! What ever was in those drops was the "smell" problem. Cleaned my mic good and problem is gone. Thanks to Robert from M-F for calling and checking on me also!!!! Jim
jm
Hey Jim, you're onto something here. I wonder how many of the problems we've all had with foaming, stinking, etc plastic could be traced to something condensing on the roof of the microwave and dropping back in. Maybe if everybody would stand on their had and look in the oven, then report back here, we all could avoid some trouble. jm
GB GONE
I just happened to be looking at my cup go round and round and noticed something drop in and start popping. I doubt that the bubbling and foaming is due to something like this as I did cook some of my other plastisol after I noticed this and it still was a big cup of foam... This never has caused any problems with foaming or bubbles, just had a weird smell in the plastic and baits towards the end of my 5 gallons of M-F. Never smelled that smell before and I have cranked through plenty of M-F in the past year!!! Jim
