bladesandbaits
Well, I by god knew it was gonna happen but did not think it would be this quick. Rich Tauber and I have been working on something for a couple of months. We talk via e- mail or phone. A couple of days ago Rich and I were discussing Custom Lure Builders and how all that the major manufacturers have to do is just keep an eye out and keep the hammer pulled back. What i mean is the major manufacturers can shove the R&D people and just sit around and wait on the little man to come up with something. Then, when it hits F-ck the little man!!!! Here is an email Rich sent me today from the Classic Outdoor show. It was in reply to my reply of a question about the chatterbait. He had ask me who i knew that was making it. I told him I knew the guy who makes the original and that I make a knock off of it but do not and would not ever try to sell it because of ethics and how hard I was aware that the guy who made the chatterbait worked to promote it. (and by the way the blade in my private one is not even close to the original chatterbait) Here is his Rich Tauber's reply. And I might add that I realize this is the way it goes. Hell, I been at this a long time and know the deal. But Strike King-Gambler-All their pro staff (including Van Dam) can Kiss my ass right between the friggin cheeks. From: RichTauber Date: Feb 23, 2006 3:08 PM Subject: Re: some pictures of my work To: bladesandbaits@gmail.com Thank goodness some in this business has some moral fiber! I am here in Orlando at the Classic for Yamaha. It seems like the whole world is coping the Chatterbait, Strike King, Gambler, Lunker City to name a few. I will get your lures when I return to Florence on Monday. Any questions, shoot. Rich Blades.
nova
Same old same old Blades. It will happen every time. Like they say,"it's not personal, it's just business". (BS) It's all about money and to heck with the little guy. But, they expect the little guy to buy the product to keep their emotionless compay going. chirmy
Going back to last years ICAST I met the guys and even have some of there baits. I picked them as best bait in my Icast tidbit in the general forums. As with all the baits that are productive it was only a matter of time. The good thing is I know they have gotten thousands upon thousands of orders before now. Good fishing,
Skeeter
Don't get me started on this...... if you think I am bad about Devcon..... Well you aint seen nothin!!!! This is why I no longer post pictures of my work. If we can't respect each others work then it is a real sad day. You did right. There is not a crank that I cannot copy. There is not a crank that I cannot make perform better. (including my own). But I make my own from scratch..... including on the paper. If you make a bait that is no longer made then that is ok by me. But to take someones work and flat copy it when that person is still making and selling that bait is just a plain lack of morals. I hope that you and Rich both do well. My hat is off to you. Skeeter
GB GONE
I just saw a knock off of the chatterbait on another website/forum. http://floridabassforum.com/index.php?topic=1124.0 I am sure before the month is over, you will have a guy in a trench coat approach you and say...Psssst..buddy...want to buy a chatterbait???? bladesandbaits
Ron Davis sold the chatterbait to Joe Renosky. Zucker never owned it as mentioned before in another post. I am glad for Ron. I wont disclose the amount but he did very, very well. Good for him. LOL in a short while we are gonna see a video,an info-mercial,and end caps full of them at BPS and everywhere else with a "As Seen On TV" label on them ha ha. GB GONE
You can't blame him for taking the money and running!!! There will be so many knock-offs that they would have had to compete with anyway!!! Nice to see somebody do some good with a great, unique product!!! Skeeter
It is my understanding that Chatterbait is not sold. Renosky is just aiding in the manufacturing. When you are the little guy, you have to have help when something takes off to keep up with the demand. Skeeter
bladesandbaits
Sorry, shold have worded it different. Rad Lures is not sold. Ronosky has the rights to Manufacture, and Market,it. Sort of a co-op if you will. Surely this will get more products on the shelf and in more stores. I know there were some issues about quality but I think it must have been becase the paint did not stay on well. I cant immagine Renosky improving it very much, maybe paint that is a little tougher. It will be interesting in the future where the product goes from here wont it. It is a damn shame that the true innovators must don a cloak of paranoia to try to avoid being ripped off.
