William
Just a note from a neophite - I'm sure the Old Sage's of this forum already know this but if you're fairly new let me share a learning about ETEX: In my desire to get exactly equal amounts to mix, I utilized my very accurate digital scale. Poured in exact weights of each and mixed well. Applied to baits and started them on the drying wheel. That was 96 hours ago and they still haven't dried........... The learning here is that equal weights are not equal parts. The resin is actually about 16% heavier that the hardner...SO stick with equal volumes to do it correctly......(Good Thing I didn't mix the gallon containers...) Nathan
Jaime, I'm no help with the etex. I've played around with it,and found it too be very touchy stuff..That why I've stuck (no pun intended) too devcon..Nathan
Mylures
I use Etex all the time and have no problems. I always measure in volume and not by weight. I usually do four large muskie baits to one batch and then mix another batch. Not sure if you recoat them if it will work or not but I would definitely give it a try on one of your baits. Good luck. BobP
I'm told that if you recoat the lure with a properly mixed batch, it will cause the soft epoxy underneath to also harden.
jaime
Nathan, I hear ya on the Devcon! I use it almost exclusively to top coat all my lures! I use etex for coating lures and other applications. It's true that it's touchy but once you git the hang of it; it goes on like gravvvyy and sets real nice
William
Thanks for all the feedback. I did recoat and it worked fine the second time around. The change to equal volumes did the trick.

Skeeter
Your problem was going by weight and not volume. The resin weighs more than the hardner. Skeeter
dtrs5kprs
Shoot...I can't even get the powers that be to buy me a digital scale for the pharmacy. Maybe they know I would just spend all day balancing jerkbaits and square bills.
