lure_learning
Can someone inform me of a good mold release for UltraCal I could find locally. Maybe at Home Depot, Lowes or Walmart. I am going to give a go at a 2 piece mold this weekend. Also, has anyone tried to use the lego form with UltraCal? Any other advice is very welcome, especially preventing bubbles in my mixture. Thanks guys

CrawChuck
I like paste wax because it's easy to see where it's been applied. Releases well.
jm
When I make mold forms, I coat plywood with a couple of coats of polyester resin, then sand it, then 1 coat of resin specifically formulated for gel coat. (no bubbles) Then a couple of coats of Turtle Wax paste wax, and nothin will stick to it. I do a sheet of it before I cut it into form parts. If the saw is sharp and fine, and pulling through the coating into the wood, the cut will be like machined. Good for either ultra cal or silicone. My masters are either wax (machining wax), modelling clay (sculpey) with either a coat of wax or vaseline on it, or plastisol. (older, harder, otherwise scrap remelt stuff) hope it helps jm
