CrawChuck
Hi basser_jim, Startup costs depends on what material you choose to make your molds with and number of cavities/molds you want. Plastisol prices are pretty much the same depending where you live vs. shipping costs. Here's a couple of tutorials showing basics of plaster molding... http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=7372 http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=7395 There's more tutorials in the Members Submitted Tutorials Forum on moldmaking. If you chose to make plaster/Ultracal 30 molds and purchased a reasonable quantity to start up, say 50 pounds of Ultracal, Paste Wax, Brushes, Envirotex Lite (quart kit), the startup cost would be around $50 - $60 and your molds would have a cost per piece of about $1 -$2 which would drop slightly after your next Ultracal 30 purchase since the other materials last a very long time. Plaster molds will last forever till you break one and IMO are the way to go starting out unless you have alot of money and can purchase RTV silicone in bulk and are real good at making molds. robbor
water putty, plaster are easy. Also bondo, resin, or what ever you have around. If you have to ask the cost you dont want to know! Make 1 or two molds then decide based on how well they come out for you. Plastic, color and glitter are easily $40 on the cheap side. Senkosam
http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/pouring_plastic_worms.html Cheap plaster of paris works great for most one flat sided baits. (7 bucks for 20 lbs at Home Depot.)
