NuttyGambler
I purchased a couple hi-lite colors, that I'm have big fun with. But can not seem to figure out what to do with the pearl powder I bought. (White I believe) Only thing it seems to do is make a bait cloudy. Am I to not add it until after heating? Or what am I missing? I thought I would be able to get some neat looking swirled worms and such out of it, but have not figured it out yet. Any advice??? Thanks. dtrs5kprs
You can use it as a belly or vein color, or add liquid colors to it to get pearl blue, pearl red, pearl grape, etc for bellies, veins, tails, other laminate uses. I use hi-lite blue for my basic "pearl" color.
nova
First you have to find a girl named Pearl. No just kidding. Try this:- 4oz.plastic....12 drops white.....1/8 tsp white pearl and just a pinch of violet highlite. Actually black with white pearl is interesting as well. GB GONE
Just poured some of those in flukes last night Nil. I added some of the large black flake...Sweet baits!!! Hope they catch fish now!!! Jim
Senkosam
Pearl is a highlight to a lighter tinted to clear plastic and not much is needed. Don't waste it on dark plastic or by adding too much and try to take a sample into the sun to see what is reflected internally.
GB GONE
Remember too that there are a lot of colors out there pre-mixed with highlight already in them.. M-F has earthworm, crawfish, smoke pearl blue and some others... They make very unique, fish catching baits!!!! Jim
millsryno
What is GYCB using to make Blue Pearl? I used MF blue pearl brilliant powder and that is definately not it. I also have messed with Del's pearl powder but that is not it either. Has anybody compared MF Pearl to Del's Pearl? Notice any difference? nova
Jim if it doesn't catch fish you can aways say that it was soooo pretty that the fish just admired it's beauty. lol
GB GONE
Haven't compared them but M-F pearl white is awful tough to beat!!! Have you seen the M-F Pearl Blue Smoke color??? Have them add some in for you on your next order. A drop or 2 of black in with that color and WOW!!!!! Jim
Joe S.
I like pearl with watermelon, I call it misty melon. Looks pretty sweet. 1/4 cup of plastic 3 drops of watermelon, and a half of an 1/8th tsp of pearl powder and a 1/8th tsp of black flake
GB GONE
I have a color like that also Joe... A light watermelon with blue hi-lite. It has been a good sub for an Aaron's Magic color minus the oxblood.... http://www.ghostbaits.com/images/slamwormwpb.JPG Jim

Predator Bass Baits
When you say watermellon do you mean Watermellon watermellom brown, watermellon green. to many watermellons in the patch and a few recipies out there do not clarify, I realize it is wa, green, but just checking as I cooked up a recipe that did not state exactly and it was probably not the right watermellon. charkins
Was it LC Del or MF Watermelon? I don't know about Del' but MF is considerably weaker and more of a yellow tint than LC. Just wonderin Cal

Bass1cpr
I'd try the Lure Craft super blue highlight, mixed with some pearl highlight.
NuttyGambler
Thanks for all the replies. Although I think I have tried most of these, and just not seeing the results like I do with the blue and green hi-lite powder. Maybe I do need to take them outside more and look them over. Gonna print this all out though and make samples one more time. Maybe I'm missing something.
bojon
I found out years ago that to test these iridiescent type colors, the best way to get a idea of what type of effect they will have on the final color was to paint flat black on a paper plate, then smear a small amount on the dried paint. This gives you a good idea what you are working with. This trick helped me a lot when painting duck decoys. BigZ
I like to use bluehighlight in a smoke worm with holo and black flake. Lately I have been using a LOT of lumina black in green pumpkin and watermelon baits. Pearls excel in light colors or translucents. A good recipe is as follows... ? cup plastic12 drops watermelon brown1/8 tsp LC pearl powdersmall red flake to taste. I pour this brown pearl as the top layer with a watermelon (no flake) base layer and it hammers the fish!
