smalljaw
I need some help here. I'm going to start pouring jigs and I've read about epoxying the weedguards in after paint and curing(using powder paint for this) but I haven't read anything about what kind of epoxy anyone has used. Also, how do they hold up as compared to casting them in place? Thanks.
JIGNPIG
smalljaw, use Devcon 2 ton epoxy, that's what everyone uses. The epoxy you use must be water proof. You can get it at Wal-Mart or just about any hardware store.
Elken
I have been using super glue gel and it seems to work pretty well. Don't get the regular thin super glue, it is messy and wicks up the fibers. The gel is easy to control, holds well and cures fairly quickly. CullinHogs
Elken, you can get an accelerator for the super glue at any hobby shop. dip the weedgaurd end in the accelerator and the glue won't wick up the fiber.
reeves
I have found the least expensive glue to use is a Cyanoacrylate Glue - Extra thick. It comes in a 2oz. bottle and costs about $9 and absolutely lasts almost forever, have done thousands of jigs with one bottle. You can find it in Radio Control Hobby shops, it is not a 'super glue', but very close. I used the gel for a while and it really is the best, but eats a hole in your pocket and could only find it in the small tubes. This stuff mentioned seemed to be the best if doing any type of production, and does the job. George Reeves H&P Tackle Welch, OK
