nova
How do you guys pour? Standing or sitting. At the end of an all day pour, my back is killing me. Anybody else? I pour off of an old display case with a stainless steel top. This works great as I use the glass shelves to store my additives. I have a longlegged chair but it seems to be more in the way than anything else. Just looking for an easier way.
GB GONE
I stand while doing difficult pours but have a raised area for my molds so I am working at a level perfect for me. A counter top at 33" is way to low for me and my neck and back hurt quick. I sit using my pot and doing other baits as at the counter top level, the pot is raised perfect for sitting position. One thing I did invest in was a mat that helps ease and cushion the hard flooring. We use them in the hospital all over for employees that stand all day long in certain places on super hard floors. nova
My countertop is 39" but even with that I have problems. Just finished a 4200 piece order and my back is killing me. The floor is not a problem. I have even tried to put casters on the chair but all it takes to stop it is a tiny pebble smaller than a BB. Got rid of those; it drove me crazy. alsworms
I had the same problem with my back. I have added a weight belt and the problem is now solved. Not an expensive leather belt; just one of those cheap $10 velcro belts you can buy at Walmart. Like Jim said, a nice mat to stand on really helps too. nova
I've tried those little black torture devices Chris. They don't work for me as my problem is with my pelvis. Specifcally, where it joins the spine. Wearing the belt just puts more pressure on the joint. I'm not going to give up this addiction though. I thought that maybe someone out there was utilizing a neat idea that would work for me. I'll find a solution for it sooner or later. WVaGitzit
Raising your work surface up where you have no bending at all will eliminate a lot of you back problems. Ergonomics of making fishing lures.
wannabefishing
i pour sitting down, can pour all day long without a problem... just have a simple work bench from the local highschool and everything is all right there.. definately not elaborate, but it works
charkins
I pour sitting down. I stole a stool from the wife. It really isn't big enough for my butt, but it is the right height. It is just the right height for the bench I have. I can pour for quite a time if the phone doesn't ring, etc. etc. Cal
nova
I hear you with the phone thing Cal. I put one in the shop; big mistake. It always seems to ring just as you start to pour. I might try a bench type affair. My pouring area is spread out, but I need the space for molds when I am pouring my main orders.
Joe S.
I use a stool for all pours except the sticks, I stand for those.
