SmallieFishn
Long time lurker, First time poster I have done a search on cleaning my pot. I found some good info. My pourer doesn't pour well, so I need some help. I got all the impurities out of the lead, so I am ready to try again. I emptied it and cleaned out the pot. My first question is: How do you guys clean out the spout? Second question is: Is it worth drilling the hole a little bit bigger? Thanks for your time, Ron
WidowMaker
First you need to pre-melt all your lead outside so you wont have any blowups in your shop......this will also get the majority of the trash out of the lead. No matter how many times you melt lead you will always have to skim something from the surface of the pot. Are you letting your pot get too low? Always keep it 2/3 to completely full. When you pour from a low pot there will be a tendency for trash to collect in the discharge barrel. The fuller the pot the more weight you will have to push the melted lead through the discharge barrel. This means a faster lead flow which reduces the tendency of trash build up in the discharge barrel.
