wannabefishing
Anyone have any idea on the shelf life of plastisol?
nova
I transfer mine to 5 gal buckets and then to 1 gal before pouring. I found a 1 gal jug that got misplaced for 2 winters. I thought I would just use it for myself and not sell any baits from it. I poured some baits and found no difference from "fresh" stock. The thing to think about is; how long did the manufacturer hold it before they sold it to the outlets that we buy from and how long do we hang into it? jm
Anyone have any idea on the shelf life of plastisol? It depends on storage conditions. Cool and dry in a tight container: many years. Moisture from condensation, loose cap: toast Continuous elevated temps, sun, stove: Settles out, cakes. The technical term for this is agglomeration. I found some commercial stuff in the back of the shop that's been there about 15 years. Stirred it up, and it isn't changed. Of course, it's not the same soft, relatively oderless stuff we're getting used to now. It's still the same stinky kinky plastic it was 15 years ago. jm
