Mesabooger Posted April 10, 2006 Report Share Posted April 10, 2006 I bought one of those new DO-IT poison tail molds and my jigs keep sticking to the mold. They stick so badly that I have to pull hard and it ends up bending the jig. Is there something I could spray on the mold to make it easier to get the jig out? smalljaw Posted April 12, 2006 Report Share Posted April 12, 2006 I never smoked my molds and have no problems. Are you heating the mold before you start pouring? what kind of lead are you using? smalljaw Posted April 13, 2006 Report Share Posted April 13, 2006 You can pour without the hooks to heat your mold but it takes a little longer. I use a small tourch as I'm waiting for the lead to melt I heat the mold and when the lead is melted I pour 1 time without the hooks in each cavity I'll be using to make sure it's hot enough for the lead to flow freely. Unfortunately, it's out of stock at this time at Barlow's Tackle where I get most of my supplies for jig making. Are you using a different hook than the mold calls for??
