Angler310
Sharing Ideas is healthy for the hand poured guys. Fresh Ideas bring in fresh customers. Lets get back into sharing more recipes. Mike
earthworm77
How can a guy with 5 posts have the audacity to say we should get back to sharing recipes? I have a problem with your post. It rubbed me the wrong way. Either you have lurked this forum for a while and failed to contribute, shame on you for that or you are simply new to the site, in that case you should view the sticky about color recipes on top of the forum listings. Your approach seems like you've been here for a while, if that is the case, shame on you for keeping quiet, yet expecting guys to give up coveted info. If you are new perhaps you should contribute something to make others gain some confidence in you that you are not simply here for a few freebies, only to disappear when you get what you are looking for. I appologize if my message offends anyone.
millsryno
ditto... I don't mean to be rude, but that post rubbed me the wrong way, too. You need to feed the fire some wood before you ask it for more heat. It would be nice to see some of Angler310's fresh ideas... I think most of us would be more than willing to welcome you with open arms and help you with any questions you might have, but c'mon man, don't you think you should contribute a little before you post something like this? Maybe I just took your post the wrong way, and if I did I apologize.
RockfishRand
Hopefully he is just a newbie like myself, and just not experienced enough to contribute anything of quality yet. I love to hear new stuff, and would love to see it everyday, because I'm all over the internet everyday. I just love to read anything to do with fishing. I will be taking pics and posting when I get my latest saltwater swimbaits molded and poured properly. I'm currently making molds, pouring jigs, and experimenting with different swimbaits. All that said, his statement does come across a little rude. RR
Angler310
Sorry guys, I had no intentions of getting any one upset or rubbed the wrong direction. Yes I am new to this and I am grateful for all the info that has been supplied. I was looking for more ideas in the cook book. I am also trying to formulate colors and Ideas of my own of which I will be posting pictures of along with the recipes for comments and recommendations. I assure all that I had no intention of getting folks worked up over this. Mike
millsryno
No problem, Mike. I'd highly recommend using the TU Search feature. This website has so much information, it is unbelievable. There are so many awesome guys here and they are all willling to help you out if you run into any problems. Don't hesitate to post your new and exciting ideas, either! alsworms
No hard feelings Mike. I hope the site will help you with your endeavors. I think most guys on this site are more than willing to help whenever they can. I believe the only reason your post was met with negativity is because, once you have done this for awhile, you'll see just how many lurkers exist like earthworm mentioned. It can be very frustrating when we take such great pride in our work. It's sad, but unfortunately true. That being said, this site is here to help others as well. Welcome to the board and feel free to ask if you have questions. Chris
Angler310
Thanks for the feed back guys. It is my intention to fit in with the group and become a contributor. I have spent countless hours reading and studying all that has already been posted to this wonderful sight. I will make sure that I use discretion when making my posts in the future. Once again I apologize for my offensiveness. thanks Mike
BBC
hey guys. i've been using this website for a few months now and i feel like i'm one of the people who is only taking and not giving much. what kinds of things are you looking for? i'm mostly looking for help with colors when i can't seem to match them. i have a lot of ideas but have been unable to test them yet because i'm at college. i am a senior studying chemical engineering and am planning on working with plastic and/or rubber after i graduate so i have some ideas on additives and such and plan on posting that info as soon as i get some time to test them. so, for the regulars - what can someome like me contribute???? millsryno
BBC - I personally always like to see pictures. They are pretty insperational at times. I know the photo section is not working (any word on this), but you can still post them here. Also for anybody just getting into the swing of things, if you learn anything that makes pouring easier for you, please post it. There are countless others probably trying to work through the same things as you. ...just my $.
Delw
Wow you guys are brutal. Mike its pretty much a public site, there are no secrets on this site, if there was people wouldnt post them. If they posted them they obviously wouldnt be a secret now would they. if it wasnt open to the public then you would have to be a member to see the topics. read what you can, dont worry about asking the same question twice( everyone has done it) if you have something to share great if you dont and just want to read great too. if there is something you want to know ask someone will answer you, might take a while but they will do it. you other guys WOW I am kinda shocked at the responce you gave this guy. Maybe he didnt get his words right but you make this site look like a little click. 1st of all he actually registered and posted, some dont. does that make them bad? maybe its due to the responces like you given this poor guy, why others wont sign up or chat. BTW that recipe section was put on there to share, if I remember correctly. if it has you guys so upset where lurkers can see it maybe you should ask red to hide it from lurkers. Senkosam
Agree. Everyone has got to start somewhere and many who have poured for a short time, after having been here for a few months, may feel they have nothing to contribute of interest. If 310 had posted a problem pouring or molding, most of us would have contributed 10 recommendations, no questions asked. But I do agree with EW about someone coming on board and trying to get others to contribute new ideas when they have not participated at all. None of us minds sharing new discoveries with fellow lurecrafters and take pride in the final product, but coming up with new ideas is not something that occurs all that often. The TU gallery has hundreds of pictures of all types of lures to get ideas from and is a great place to browse. The archive of tutorials is also a good place to get specific info and Del's site has an excellent recipe book for basic color combos and a forum where Del will answer any questions. There are few sites that have 10 new posts per day and since this is a specialty how-to site, not as active, especially in the summer months when everyone is out fishing. GB GONE
I'll admit I took the post a little wrong also. I also remember when I first started pouring and what a mess it was. Having recipes is great but you really need to be able to pour well before any colors really matter. Once you start pouring, you will want to figure out your own recipes anyway and will just use a few from the cookbook. Have fun, good luck and remember "The only dumb question is the question not asked!!" Jim
jm
Mike, This place reminds me of the lyrics of a 1950's ditty called "It's a Quiet Place Here in Crossbone County." The punch line goes something like "They may shoot you dead, but they're likeable guys." Eric, Sometimes someone who is not an "expert" will look at a problem and be totally unencumbered by knowledge, and not "know" what won't work. This person is the one most likely to come up with a novel solution. We've seen it many times here on the board. That's what makes it so much fun, and so profitable to be here. jm
Angler310
That is why I keep coming back to this sight. I thirst for knowledge and Idea's. I have come up with a few idea's and sights. When some spare time, (like at 4am) when I have time to ponder and gather my thoughts and Pictures. I will be looking for opinions and comment. thanks for the feed back Mike
BBC
Ryan, I just got home from college. As soon as I find where I packed my digital camera and wires I'll upload some pics of the stuff I'm making. Also, once it stops raining (we're working on 6 days straight and they're calling for another week of it here in PA) and the lakes clear up a little I'm going to go test some new stuff. If I like my results I'll share what I did (I don't really want to post stuff and find out that it doesn't work very well). Eric
