RiverMan
Anyone successfully made a Trap from wood? Jed V.
auburn fisheries dude
a rattle trap that doesn't rattle is, well, not a rattle trap, cause i've never heard of a wooden bait that rattles.
cullin8s
Lots of wooden baits rattle I also have a japanese bait similar to a trap thats silent and its killer sometimes on pressured fish. Wasn't the Bagleys trap shaped bait wood?
oldthunder
Hey Jed: You know those baits I spoke to you about? I made them rattle by drilling the front weight hole a little deeper and installing B-B's. Of course, I put a lip on 'em, but I'm sure with a little careful experimentation, you could weight these properly to run and rattle lipless. clemmy
Well some of the early cordell spots did not rattle, in fact some tinkerers used to drill out the lead weight hole larger to make the one-knockers...
Nathan
Hey Jed, I played around with a wooden rattle trap a few years ago..I got a few too work, but didn't spend the time with them too get them down pat. What I did find was being made from wood you could get some really slow fall rates by playing with the weight..Nathan
johnnytheboy
i made a trap that works up on the surface giving a good old wake behind it, also if you crank it hard enough it will go down about 1.5 foot, it works well as a surface lure, there was no weight in this one at all, the hook hanger had to be slightly forward abit though to make it crank down, likley not what your lookng for but it worked for me Tightlines john
