garp55
I made my own jitterbug lure and bought the stainless steel lips from Netcraft. The lure sinks when put in the water. I have tries white pine and most other woods to no avail. Can someone please tell me the secret, thanks Gary.
jigmeister
The original jitterbug has an aluminum lip . Perhaps the stainless lip is too heavy causing the sinking to occur . You could try making the body bigger for more floatation ?
bombadier
Another probably obvious change is lighter hooks. Different brands can be lighter than others.
Rollo
I've had the same problem with stainless lips. Stamina carries(or used to carry) 3 different sizes. I replaced the lip of my subsurface musky jitterbug with a smaller size and it worked fine. If you use stainless, you will definitely need to use a bulkier. more buoyant body. Incidently, you can get aluminum lips from Moore's Lures. They come in two sizes. the small one is perfect for bass, and the large one is for big honkin' musky baits.
