Triton Mike
I wrote this article several years ago after learning how to make a custom mold from my friend Troy Jens. The baits do require a little bit of a clean up at the seams but a dremel tool does a great job in cleaning it up. This idea also works for jigs as well. I just made a chomper jig mold that turned out really great. The bait in the pictures is of a little big man spinneribait ie hidden weight type. If any of you have done this before with bondo or any other formula that dries quicker than Water putty I'd like to hear how it turned out. Seems like bondo dries quicker and harder and I was just curious if it could handle the heat of molten lead?? http://www.wmi.org/sql_messages_html/onfly_file/doc.asp?num=28316&ini=d:%5Casp_ini%5Cfishing_tactics_3way.ini&no_nav= Triton Mike

kidlizard
Nice article. Very detailed. Heck I could even follow those instructions. Might even go out and get some lead pouring equipment! John

HAWGHUNNA
I will agree fully micotek60....this is a great post...just finished a s/b mold in this manner myself, gonna experiment with a custom jig design next. Have you poured from the two molds that you finished?
microtek60
yes I have but they didnt come out all that great. I think it was my fault with the mold though. You can definitly tell what it is though.

ominousone
awesome tutorial. The boring molds that are mass produced have left me desiring so much more in this aspect of luremaking and boom.... a much better option has arrived. wardsmit
Mike, This is a great post with invaluable instruction. I have tried this with several ideas of mine and works great. Dunno about bondo...know that on cars and such it has tendency to break up over exposure to heat and cold from the weather and can only be suspect concerning
Old man in the boat
I'm glad you reposted this. I lost it in a crash. I have sent it to a bunch of people. It's great for experimenting. On thing that works great is jewlers wax. You can work up a prototype with the jewlers wax and try different designs.
