Pop
I powder paint my jigs and would like to paint eyes on some of them. Vinyl paint is not available in my area. Anyone know what other type of paint would be compatible with the powder paint for eyes? I am trying to avoid the cost of ordering thru the mail, but maybe I will need to do that. Also on some jigs I put "stick on eyes" and would like to clear coat the jig to better keep the eyes on and eliminate the rough edge between the eye and the jig body. Any suggestions on the clear coat? Thanks, Pop

bladesandbaits
Pop, if you are going to use epoxy clear coat then about any water base paint will work. The good thing about water base paint is if you fowl up you can wipe it off quick and start over. I have found that createx sometimes will act funny over cured powder paint.Sometimes it seperates and the edges dont stay round.Hard to explain. Latex paint is good. The cheap craft paint in the 2 oz bottles works good as well. If you sre going to use powder clear for top coat then you have to experiement because the heat is going to blister the paint. PaBasser
Hey Pop, try Wacky Worm, don`t they have vinyl paint? Like other posts say, you can use any paint. I put a clear coat over powder paint then paint eyes, then clear coat again. Hope this works for you. PaBasser
Pop
I never thought about Wacky Worm. Thanks. I do like the other suggestions about the water base paint. First because of the ease of use and second it is probably cheaper. I didn't know what paints would be compatible. What kind of clear coat do you use.? charkins
I have been using any kind of enamel over epoxy or powder coat for years. It works great. Don't spend the extra money for anything else. Cal
PaBasser
Hey Pop, I use 2-ton 5 minute epoxy, I also use testers clear coat,(mostly use it in air brush) better control using air brush. If using epoxy, put on a lure drying rack to even the coat out. PaBasser
