Celticav
I tie crappie spins with krystal flash and always have a few strands of it that stick straight out, is this a tension thing? Would a couple of soft loops help with this?
Nathan
I have the same problem on occasion,I think it has to do with the twist this material has.I don't know how you attatch yours, but I always double mine back on it's self. You only need half as much material, but get twice the effect. It seems to give it a little additional strenght too..Nathan
deadlystreamer
I have used that krystal Flash just a couple times to see how it works and the action it gets in the water. I like using it and haven't had that problem yet, If I did, I'd probably wrap it down the best I could and lacquer it in place. I think any thing used to tie with can be covered by a nice finished looking head. Sooo If you have unmanageable Krystal Flash, Cover it with a nice head and use a good amount of clear lacquer to finish it off.
Celticav
I don't know if you understand what I mean, here is what I am tying.
deadlystreamer
No I didn't. Now I do. That looks great!! Glad you put the pic on for me. It really looks fine. That's some weird stuff to work with, but makes a nice looking bait. You do some nice work.
Celticav
My tying skills are miniscule compared to what most of you guys work, but thanks anyway.
Celticav
Took that little bait out sunday and slayed them! Ended up with 18 bass and 6 crappie, biggest bass was a 4 lb spot and all but 2 of the crappie were eating size. I was fishing it on an ultralight spooled with 10 lb fireline (has the diameter of 4 lb mono) and it casts like a rocket!
Maze
That lure would be totally deadly in my area !!! I have never seen one like it in Upstate NY. I bet most wouldn't even try it here, stubborn, think they know everything. You've proved it works! Curious, was the water stained or clear and what was the weather like? Keep up the good work and always show pics! Maze
Celticav
Thanks Maze, this little lure has become part of my regular arsenal now. I fish it on a 7 ft light action Berkley spinning rod with a Shimano Spirex 2000 and Berkley FireLine. It has caught fish for me when nothing else would work, it may not be a tournement go-to bait but rain or shine, clear or muddy it always produces. I got more pics of them in the gallery, JIM
