Markell
I just received my Hot Pot 2. My molds are not in yet so I decided to make a few ingots. I can't believe how easy this is. I was expecting the melting process to be more work. Anyway... How should I clean the Hot Pot 2 after each use?
Gr8flyz
I have one of the older Hot Pots with the internal element and only clean it about once a month. I do a lot of pouring with it, and when I'm done I make sure it's about 3/4 full with lead, (covering the element) then let it cool that way. When I need to pour again, I just let it heat up & pour. While I'm pouring I use a large stainless spoon to skim off the waste on top. When I clean it, I just pour out the lead into an ingot mold, unplug it, then while it's still hot I use an old, thin flat screwdriver to work all the crud loose, and dump the waste into a coffee can. About once a year I take the whole thing apart & check it out good, then fix or replace whatever needs it. Since the element on the Hot Pot 2 is outside the pot, you should have no trouble cleaning it, just pour out the lead & scrape loose whatever needs it. I've found it's best to clean them while still pretty warm, but be careful & wear appropriate safety equipment.
