Tony Maxwell
Brings back old memories. 40 years ago I used to use a fly rod and reel to "stitch" live nitecrawlers for bass in local gravel pits. 8 to 9 ft. rod, probably an 8 weight. Don't know what that would relate to today. Fly line was easy to "Stitch" Maybe braid now. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out. Mattman
I'd skip anything glass. But that's a personal thing. I hate glass. Its heavy and its very dead feeling. I'd also disagree with Bill's comments on graphite. What he is describing has MUCH more to do with the rod blanks design traits rather than the material it was fabricated from. St. Croix has a 7'6" MLXF that would probably be great for stitching. I'd also agree with Tony as well, a fly blank would also do a good job for you. A 00-power Loomis Hot Shot rod would be yet another option if you really wanted some beef in the butt section.
