Glaucus
I was googling around and saw that a new lure making magazine was about to be released Jan 1, 2007. Hmmm... Does anyone here know anything about this mag? The CEO & author/illustrator is John P. Hamon. A Google search of his name will take you to his site. Mr. Hamon, are you a member of TU??? While I think it will be very hard to top the help and information that is available here at TU, I am kind of interested in a magazine format. Will anyone here subscribed to this mag? Oh, and if this post is in any way inappropriate, please delete it!
LedHed
“While I think it will be very hard to top the help and information that is available here at TU, I am kind of interested in a magazine format.” – It’s hard to top free and almost instant information. I would like to see the magazine also. I’m down to two fly fishing/tying magazines and one rod crafter magazine. Is this a US publication or Canadian and is associated with the Luremaking site? Thnx for the heads up.
Glaucus
Oops....I got to learn to read more carefully! LMM is not printed on paper, but is a web-magazine! While LMM is a business and run a commercial site, they do provide some free information, so here's the link:[Removed by request of site owner] BTW, I don't believe that LMM is a Canadian company or owned by Luremaking.com. (Luremaking is owned by Helene & Steve Brunke)
redg8r
Oh, and if this post is in any way inappropriate, please delete it! I thought the post was fine, as I have watched the site for awhile. He has handfulls of other online mags, one in particular focuses on avoiding the high cost of making & buying lures by trapping your own live bait. Anyway, I recieved an email this morning from Mr. Hamon: I am wondering why my "The Lure Makers Magazine" (thelmdfg.com) got 17 unigue visite from your website address today. Policy at the LMDFG.com includes asking all contributors permission for any listing that appears in The LMDFG.com family of websites. We go to exhaustive labor to secure licensed permission for this prior to publishing. If you wish to include The Lure Makers Magazine (LMDFG.com) into your forum or any other mention. Please contact us for copyright permission. Otherwise; The LMM will use the full power of it's Internet publishing ability to warn our readers of your copyright violations. Regard; John P. Hamon CEO; The LMDFG.com I havnt really a clue what he's talking about other than accusing us of violating his copyright by a TU member linking from this post to his website. He wants me to ask permission to link to his site, which I'll decline & prohibit from here out. He got a free plug here in TU & asked it be removed....brilliant! The LMM
How does he make money????????? I think he sells advertising on the pages of his websites, and subscriptions to his web books about lure making
dampeoples
That is weird, considering he's been here answering questions half-assed, then telling everyone that they can get more info via his magazine! Either way, getting referrals from THE luremaking source can't be a bad thing
The LMM
Dear Dampeoples; there is nothing half-assed about The Lure Makers Magazine. If you think so; I supose you got all lure making knowed up, and probibly don't need never seen before lure making information. Good for you. I wish I had lure making all knowed up. The Lure Makers Magazine is the end result of 25 years worth of privately funded research into low cost. alternate methodoligies & resources free to pro & homespun lure makers. are you one of the TU klansmen I have met so far? This is probably the most unfriendly forum I have had the displeasure to inter. Yes; this is the CEO of The Lure Makers Magazine. Who's next? bassnfool
I went to this guys website. It looks like a typical super slick scam artist to me. Lots of advertising-little information. Check it out for yourself, but I'm not wasting my time going back.
LedHed
If LMM is a reflection of his e-zine, he can keep it. Classic example of bait and switch - with e-zine being the bait. I think the paranoia with the link issue is because LMM doesn't want his subscribers to find out they can come to this site, for FREE and get better information. WidowMaker
What username was the guy posting under? Did he actually know what he was talking about? Or did the guy learn a bunch of stuff here and take it and put it on his website?
