Switching to microwave to heat plastics: Supplies needed?

Recommended Posts

Ok, going to try and cook in a microwave. What should I cook the plastic in and pour. Do I cook and then pour in the same cup or do I cook in one and pour in another. If use seperate cups, how do I keep the plastic from setting up when I transfer the cooked plastic to the pouring cup/pan?

Micro, try and get one that has digitals not a dial timer.

Not the cheapest one you can find but one that is about 900 to 1100 watts.

Pyrex cup

Butter knife.

Heat and pour from same cup, Pyrex cup is in your local stores in the kitchen supplies, it is a glass measuring cup.

Don't take me wrong here but,

Try and re-read the posts that you started, it seems your not reading them well because you keep asking same questions that people have answered ?.

Keep practicing.

Hey No need to be sorry, I probably had no right to say what I did, I did not mean any harm, sorry if it sounded like that,

I know being new you need everything spelled out, LOL

As far as the cheapie micro I have been down that road and I burned the box, well a week later the micro would shut off because it was cheap, I ended up buying another one.

Not exactly expert advice here, but also you can do some stirring with a stiff length of wire. You can take a pair of pliers and twist the end of the wire into a kind of curl to create a 2 cent whisk. Only don't whisk the plastic, use slow, deliberate stirs. Like the others said, heat and pour from the same pyrex. And think about heating the plastic in bursts, removing to stir, and heating more instead of one long heating stage.

What I like about the wire whisk is that less plastic sticks than the butter knife. More plastic stays in the glass to pour. Butter knife will work well, though.
