bigbass14.3
I have a bag of hand pours from someone else and they do not use worm oil in there bags yet these worms have been put up for over a year and they are still slippery now I know they cook scent in so here is my question How much scent should you use when cooking plastic to keep a strong scent and slippery feel I pour with lc pans could someone please give me an idea on the ratio ? thanks Jason
charkins
I use LC scents primarily, they are concentrated. I use about 3 drops per ounce of plastic. I coat all of my baits with worm oil. Hope this helps.
saint308
Would it do any good to put a couple of drops in the bag with the worms? Will the scent be absorbed, or will it wash off the first it hits the water? Could the scent replace worm oil? I am not sure I am ready to cook with scent, but may use scent inside the bag. I read the post on this further down, but they were talking about butter, oils, maranades. I had to double check which site I was on. I thought we were brining a turkey. Thanks. Saint. charkins
I doubt that the LC scent will penetrate much. You could mix some scent with some worm oil and put it in the bag. Some of the guys use some way out scents, but I just stick with LC shad and crawfish.
dsmblack
I think I read on this site a while ago that when you put scent on after cooking that the baits(especially those with salt) absorb the scent, then later when put in water releases the scent back out. Is there any truth to this. How would you be able to tell if it did. Just curious. I put my scent on after the baits are in the bag. It seems to work for me. jmik26
Bigbass - We use 20 drops of LC craw scent per 1 cup of LC Super Soft plastic. I have had baits in a bag for one year and they still have a strong scent to them. However, the skirts we make have scent cooked in but we addd no extra scent after they are bagged. After about a month they are really oily, seems that its giving off something??
bassassazzin
My scents ( Upper Hand ) are a much more concentrated than Lurecrafts's, as jmik26 posted: 20 drops ( 10-15 drops if you use U.H. scent oils ) per 1 cup of soft plastic. U.H. scent oils/marinade are also excellent when used for packaging your baits too!
Angler310
Here is something that I'm giving a try. I took some worms and placed them in a plastic bag used for vacum packing and seal the bags with oil and scent for about 2 hours. I did this with the worms right out of the molds. I did notice some bubbles leaving the surface of the worm. My point being that I'm hoping that the oil and scent permiated the baits. Thoughts on this adventure?? Interested how you folks feel about this idea. Mike
Mac10
I scent my own storebought worms with a water based scent. It's really easy. Mix two heaping tablespoons of garlic powder and one level teaspoon salt with two cups hot tapwater. Stir well and pour some of this mix into each baggie of lures. Re-seal each baggie and then float the baggies on a bucket of hot tapwater for a half hour. Open each baggie and drain off the excess liquid and re/seal once again. The scent penetrates the plastic as well as some of the salt. If an oil is desired, let the worms dry and then use a little of the garlic Pam type cooking spray after doing the above. Garneau Baits
I use UPPER HAND scents in my baits, They are very strong.--give them a try you cant go wrong.I like to blend two of his products Upper Hand Bass Sauce I and Upper Hand Hawg Sauce --- use 1 tablespoon per cup of plastic just before you are going to pour. I use original PAM to lube the baits before I package them this helps to get them all nice and straight without sticking to each other.
