Markell
I like to throw a split shot rig (texas rig plastic with a light weight secured above the hook). I like to use the long finesse weights for this and thought that the Do-it lure body mold would make a great split shot weight. Has anyone tried this? Would the lure body be too thick to pinch on the line?
Big Splash
You should be able to pinch it down. Why not use hollow core pencil lead? It comes in several diameters, and you could cut it to any length you need. The price of a do-it mold would buy a lot of lead rolls.
redg8r
many of the component suppliers will include a skirt of "living rubber" [for spinners] with thier finesse weights. You just pull a string of the rubber off (looks like one round string off a rubber spinnerbait skirt) double it over & thread it through the weight after its on your line (using a sewing needle threader works great) the pressure from the rubber holds the weight in place, yet its adjustable on the line, kinda like the old rubber "twist" sinkers. the do-it molds use a pin or bar system (i think) so if you mold em using the pull pins, the living rubber should solve your woes. but now that I think of it, the bar would make it a pinch-on right? or am I thinkin of a different mold there oh well They can be pinched in place with pliers or somethin, but doubling a piece of rubber skirt in it will work too. Hey splash, Ive heard you mention that lead before, where you finding that at? all my pencils are "lead free". sounds like it'd have some other good uses too. Big Splash
Pencil lead is availible in 1lb rolls anywhere Salmon, or steelhead are fished in the rivers. Someone put up an address to get it (maybe on the Other Site?). We use a piece of surgical tubing on the line, then push the weight 1/4" into the tubing. It can slide, and will usually fall off when a big fish is on.
Glaucus
Water Gremlin makes pencil lead http://www.watergremlin.com/Accessories/accessoriesindex.htm The Do-it lure body mold LB-5-A makes castings that look like "Mojo" wieghts, pinching them could weaken or damage the line. Use an elastic band or a spinnerbait skirt strand to keep them in place like Red suggests.
