sponsorship

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find some tackle companies to sponsor a fishing tournament I am hosting this summer as a bennifit in Michigan. My friend passed away this October leaving behind a 6 year old and a 3 year old. His father started a trust for the boys for college but with the family not having much money I wanted to help contribute to the trust. I am expecting about 80 people and want to give out prizes to the winners and and maybe some parting gifts for the rest. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Josh

I am not a company and can not assist with the sponsorship but I can, and will, donate some jigs for your endeavor. The only thing I require is that you provide some type verification of the tournament. I think it is very commendable that you are supporting your friend and his family.

Thank you all very much. I can email you the flyer that i created for the tournament. Other than that i dont know how to prove it is ligit. Any thing else i can provide I will do so. If anyone has any ideas how to get a big name to help sponsor like Stren, PoorBoys or anything like them would be great.

Thank you

I know this is a old post but I wanted to give you my experience in dealing with big companies towards sponsoring events.

I hold monthly fishing tournaments to raise money for MS. The best time to contact Big Companies is December through February. After that most of there money for event sponsorship is used up.

It is better to contact them by mail, not email. It is best if you send a packet to include a detailed letter of what you are doing and what you are trying to accomplish. They will want a flyer for the event. Good contact information.

With it being so close to the event I would focus on companies not associated with fishing. I use a lot of gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and things to that effect. They are usually always willing to donate gift cards.

If you have any more questions feel free to email me

I am trying to find some tackle companies to sponsor a fishing tournament ... I ... want to give out prizes to the winners and and maybe some parting gifts for the rest. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Josh -

I would be happy to contribute some Dick Nite Spoons and DNA (Dick Nite Attractant) to your event.

Like was said above, tackle manufacturers get a LOT of emails for donations. Most of them, and I truly believe this, are for a good cause. Some, however, are not. They are either scams, or just fishermen looking for free tackle.

Even if they are for a good cause, we always email back and require a SNAIL MAIL request. Email is too easy to abuse... If someone is willing to sit down, write a letter explaining the event, put a stamp on it and send it out, the chances of it being legit are good.

Remember to explain who the beneficiaries are - if it's a bass club with a bunch of guys driving $60,000 trucks towing $45,000 boats, I don't even bother - for us, it HAS to benefit kids.

Anyway, please email me dicknite@dicknite.com with a note, or phone (toll-free # is below) telling me you are the guy on Tackle Underground, explain again (I'm getting old...) what it is for, and I will put together a package for you and send it off.

You kind of tugged at my heart strings with that story!
