Stay Warm Melting Pots

Recommended Posts

Sta-Warm pots are good quality, but if you dont run more than a gallon of plastic at a time then don't get the 2-1/2 gallon pot, buy the 1-1/2 gallon pot, it will be easier to keep your plastic mixed in the smaller pot especially if your adding salt.

When I got my pot a couple years ago they were about $1000 and a good DC powered variable mixer is about another $1000.

I don't use it for injection, you can't preasurize the one I have, but I think they will custom build one for you that you can preasurize. I think the tip on my pot is 1/4", I bought a 1/8" tip to pour a narrower stream but it took too long to fill a cavity on say a beaver mold went back to the 1/4".

The mixer is from Indco. the pot is model#10cn, 120 volt 12.8 amp 2-1/2 gallon. If you get a mixer get one with variable speed and DC not AC.

Interested in anything and everthing. Are many people using them?

If not, why not?

Do they work better than a Presto Pot. Is the price worth it? Is anyone using a stirrer? How does it hold heat? Does it burn the plastic? Can you pour one and two part molds?

Does it pour a uniform stream of hot plastic? Does it heat uniformlly? Does it hold the target temp. well?

I have a Presto Pot now and am interested in stepping up to a Sta-warm.

Looking for more uniform heating and a better pour spout. Is the inside of the Sta-warm pot coated? Does plastic pull out easlly when the pot is cool or does it stick like the Lee Pot? I have to use a wire brush on my drill to get out the plastic remaining in the Lee Pot.

Thanks,

Bassbug

Sorry, I ment to say we use Rite Heat pots for our dipping. We have two 2 1/2 quart Sta Warm pots for our 2 part/open molds. Great pots for all aspects of bottom/gravity pours.

Only down fall is the cast aluminium liner which has a slightly rough surface, it is a ##### to get the baked on glitter off at times and the upper 1/4 of the liner tends to brown up if your emptying and not refilling to the top. Other than that its a very reliable pot and it pours a uniform stream...the plastic pulls out easy apart from a little bit of glitter...just need to heat it up a bit and use some WD40 with a plastic scraper. You can also used a wire brush on a drill, although I've been told you can get some fine sand paper and put a mirror finish via wet sanding the liner...I can't seem to find the time  too busy pouring...
