U.S. Open Lake Mead

Recommended Posts

Just passing along John Kerr (SRPLASTICS Pro-Staff) of Ramona California won the U.S. Open 3 day tournament. John used both super spooks and SRPlastics drop shot baits to weigh in 27+ pounds and win $118,000. $50,000 in cash, a brand new Ford truck and a new fully rigged ranger boat. We also had 2 other pro-staff finish in the money. I poured John 5 different bait types in different colors. Kevein Martins $2,000 big fish came on our 6" skinny in oxblood lite. Tom Lowrey also won $2,000 for a big fish. For those of you unfamiliar with the U.S. Open, this is the west coast Bassmaster Classic drawing more entries than the classic, this year there were 136 pro entries, including Folkstad, Hite, Berry, Velvic. Uribe and many other big name guys.

You forgot Myers  Congratulations is in order to John Kerr, I hear it was his first tournament as a Pro. I also spoke to Keven Martin as I saw him on your web site and inquired. I saw him 2 of the 3 days on the water and although he struggled he managed 2k for a fish. He is an extremely talented young fisherman. For anyone to go out and catch 27+lbs on Mead in the wind is an acheivement in itself.

By the way, I threw buzzbaits and spinnerbaits by those of you who supplied them to me. In the windy conditions you would have thought they would slay them, just not in 20 to 40 mph winds I guess. I did manage 1 fish on Red's popper I got in the swap and 1 on the Doodlebug (2 in prefish). Thanks for everyones generosity and congratulations to SR and his pro teams efforts (for future reference where did Kerr fish)
