BShafer
First, let me say I do enjoy this board.Although I am knew to this board I'm not knew to crafting my own jigs. And like most serious anglers I love to tinker. I have been considering wraping my own rods but have no idea where to start with the basic gear. I will be ordering a book that I saw on a previous post but would like to find out the boards choice for the basic tools to wrap a quality rod for personnal use. Thanks in advance for any and all input. BShafer
shfishinsticks
If the book you are going to get is Rod Building Guide by Tom Kirkman, then it's a very good place to start. It will tell you what tools you really NEED to get started, and you really don't need much. Read the library here: http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/library.html and the posts here: http://www.rodbuilding.org/list.php?2 are really helpful. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to email me directly. Scott
Mattman
That would be the exact same advice I'd give you. In addition... Advanced Custom Rodbuilding is also another good book. Significantly more out dated, but still a good resource. Mudhole used to have a small tutorial on their web site. That would be worth looking at. Skeet
You might also consider the Rod Building Expo in High Point, NC near the end of February. You can access that site through the previously mentioned rodbuilding.org. I can't tell from your profile where you are located, but I would be glad to offer any assistance.
