basser_jim
I was wondering if someone could give me a small how to on carving custom cranks... belly weights, hardware, cutting lips (lexan)? BobP
Click on "Forum" above and then scroll down to the bottom of that page and click on "Member Submitted Tutorials". If nothing is listed, go to the display controls and choose "beginning" instead of the default 100 days. You'll see 43 tutorials, among which are several about crankbait building and at least one devoted specifically to balsa baits. If you have very specific questions, come back to the forum and do a search on your topic - you'll find many topics have been discussed in detail. Hope this helps! Jason
I'd suggest hanging out here for awhile, and you'll pick up quite abit of info. Also use the "search" feature in the forums. You can look up topics you are wondering about. There is alot of info out there! Best of luck.
doomdart
Working with balsa will allow methods that other woods will not. If you just want to do a few, you might consider using the old fashioned carving knife if you don't have bandsaw/dremel/etc. Balsa is very easy to carve....takes longer, but if you aren't sure you want to invest a lot of money, it's a good way to start. As far as general help, like the others said you'll find most information here. Some of the forums are still being rebuilt after data loss, so be patient and keep trying if you don't see what you're looking for.
