Big Splash
Here are some crawdads from a test pour in one of my new plaster molds. I sculpted the originals from plasticene. They differ in size more than the pic shows. The top 'dad is 4" and weighs just over a half ounce, while the bottom one is 3 1/2" long and weighs in at 1/3 oz. I'd like to hear some feedback on what you think of this bait, as I live in a 'crawdad free' zone. Is there a season when crayfish work better than others? Do you guys think a craw should be super soft, or should I use a little hardener in the mix? Salt? I would like to hear suggestons for crawdad colors, and perhaps someone will share a good craw recipe.
kidlizard
One of my prostaff guys really likes green pumkin with a dark orange for a unique craw color. He says they look like that this time of year. Nice mold by the way!! John
dtrs5kprs
1) Green pumpkin pepper/green flake with a watermelon/hi-lite green vein 2) MF brown watermelon/black, purple, green flake...quite a bit of the w'melon so it comes out darker than rootbeer brown
alsworms
Darn good lookin' craws!! I'd say that color you got there would do just fine; maybe a black tail or underbelly? You can experiment with different color claws too. Chris
deadlystreamer
I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to say anything because It's a little out of my field. But I thought the color looked pretty good as is. kink of natural I'd say. They look awfully good just like that.
