Mac10
I've been told you can thin epoxy with alcohol. I'd like to do this, but don't know what kind of alcohol is to be used........would appreciate your help. Thanks, Mac
cheesehead
Save the bourbon for me to drink, denatured Alchol is what you need for thinning. You will find it in the paint department of your local home center, Kmart or other big box stores.

Shawn M
I agree with Nova, some fingernail polish (acetone) works real well for me and is easy to find. Shawn
nova
Don't use fingernail polish remover it has a perfume in it. I use automotive acetone. Cheap to buy in a quart. www.novalures.com
Mac10
Thanks for the information and posting it on this thread. It's much appreciated. I'll be going with denatured alcohol mainly due to the fumes from acetone bother a bit. Thanks for your help and Good Fishing, Mac
Shawn M
Sorry, I should have said nail polish remover. I am curious Nova, what is wrong with fingernail polish remover?? I've used it often to thin epoxy and had great results. Granted, I've only used it to thin epoxy for SB heads, so if there are some down falls please let me know. nova
Shawn; it's the perfume they put in it. Straight acetone doesn't have it. Not sure if the perfume effects the fish because I've never tried it. Didn't want to take any chances. www.novalures.com
charkins
Guys, I think the grain alcohol is much better. The fumes from the acetone will kill you. Get some denatured alcohol, or better yet some grain alcohol (Everclear is a brand here).
nova
Point taken Cal. But tell me; are you allowed that stuff? lol Just kidding buddy. www.novalures.com
charkins
For you guys that don't know, Nova is making reference to the fact that I a licensed Baptist Minister. No, Nil, I am not allowed to drink it . I can however use it for chemical and medicinal purposes. I use a lot of it making medicines as a compounding pharmacist. It is a good solvent and will calm a cough. I use a lot to make transdermal testosterone gel and transdermal promethazine gel.
nova
I'm not so sure about the "calming a cough" part Cal. I've seen a lot of winos with a really bad cough. lol:lol: No disrespect to the winos. www.novalures.com
