blackjack
sure do, paint a pattern on a transparent plastic bait without basecoating the lure body white, then clearcoat as usual. Some perty camera work helps as well
bamabass
Does it have to be an unpainted body?Or can it be sanded down and done with a manufactured bait? thanks
blackjack
As long as the body is clear plastic you will be alright. If the body is scuffed up from stripping it smooth it out with acetone and a rag and paint away
BobP
Just like Blackjack says, but check whether the bait's is clear plastic - on a molded lipped bait, if the lip is clear, the body is too. Sand the bait with 400 or 600 grit paper, apply the new paint, and cloudiness from the sanding will disappear when the clearcoat fills in the small scratches.
