WidowMaker
Im using Storm Suspend Strips to weight the shanks of worm hooks. I consider them to be a bit expensive and im looking for an alternative. I thought about using lead wire but would think it might be just as expensive as the suspend strips. Also it might be hard to find it in the right diameter size. I need anywhere from .022 to .024 diameter sizes. Im thinking about trying to come up with a way to make lead sheeting to cut into 1/16 inch wide strips. I might get two pieces of steel angle and bend the top edges outward in a similar manner to the gate on a jig mold. I could shim them to the desired thickness of the lead sheeting and then pour into it from my lead pot. Has anyone tried this or does someone have a better idea? JBlaze
I use a Do-It Lure Body Mold. Place your hook in it and squeeze it in a vise just enough to make an impression of the hook wire. Do not squeeze it to hard or you will warp the hinges or worse. then take a Dremel with a cutting disk and cut this impression on both sides just deep enough so the mold will close completely. I make a nice little weighted worm hook with a 1/0 mustad
detroit1
I use lead tape that is sold at golf pro shop. It's 1/2" wide with an adhesive back. I think it's a 100 ft. roll for about $5.
siebler_custom_baits
Wish i had thought of modifying a Lure body mold like that, Great idea. I love those weighted hooks but they are getting harder to find. Thanks again for the idea.
reeves
Another idea that I use on suspending jerkbaits rather than the expensive dots is regular solder. I keep a few inches in my tackle box and when needed to get the jerkbait to hold a depth rather than floating slowly toward the surface, I would pinch off a small piece and wrap it around the belly hook eye. Works like a champ. May be able to apply in your situation.

Gloomisman
I use lead tape that is sold at golf pro shop. It's 1/2" wide with an adhesive back. I think it's a 100 ft. roll for about $5. This is what I typically use to weight jerkbaits. My dad makes his own golf clubs and I found it on his work bench.
WidowMaker
The nearest golf pro shop is closed down for winter vacation. I found some thick lead adhesive strips at Wal Mart but they were expensive and too thick for what i need. Im looking for something the same thickness as the Suspend Strips.
