rhahn427
I'm a saltwater fisherman and I experiment with trying to make the lures better like everyone else. I'm using pencil lead in the hook slits of bass assassins and large fins fish and pushing the led into large sluggo's to give it a more natural and horizontal sinking. I need a glue to glue the hook slot/cavities together around the weight to keep it from falling out. I know they used to make a plastic worm repair glue ........ does any one know if there are other better glues?
MDC
Super Glue will work
charkins
Pro Soft is the name of the glue you are thinking of. I used it to repair some senkos at the lake when the bag was running on empty. It is a good glue. It was more stable than plain old super glue. I looked through my tackle bag and can't find it. I must order some more.
Fish_N_Fool
It is my opinion that the pro soft glue is just junk. All it does is dry up in the bottle and is not any better at glueing then any other super glue at 10 times the price of reg. super glues. I use a cheap super glue found at walmart and it works great and never dries up in the bottle even after a couple months. It is the locktite super glue in the tall triangle bottle. It gets an A +++ in my book.
Richard Prager
Have you tried just sealing it in with some of the plastic...or maybe melting it together a soldering iron or flame?
Senkosam
Super Glue, flame and soldering iron. Another suggestion which I came up with a few weeks ago is to add bbs to the hot plastic. 3-4 bbs adds 2 grams; one ball bearing adds more; and for maximum wt., one sling shot ball works good (they come in different sizes). Best yet, they don't react with plastic and oxidize like lead will. I use these wts. in place of split shot or mojo sinkers and may stop adding salt altogether. MicroSalm
I found that Loctite® Super Glue Control™ Gel works the best. You can find it at Walmart. The stuff does not dry up nearly as easy as all of the other super glues and the applicator works well also. It costs slightly more but you will be using all of it. rhahn427
Thanks guys ........ looks like super glue is the consensus due to it's price and availability ......... Senkosam ....... good idea to ad the weight to the mold ........ my problem is, that I don't cast plastic and I have a whole lot of these lures that I want to experiment with ......
