miketr20
I am making poison head shakey heads 1/8 ounce. I need a way that can attach a hitchiker system to the jig head where the weedguard is supposed to go. Any ideas will help for i am experimenting. siebler_custom_baits
Use the pull pins for the weedguard hole then Epoxy in the hitch hiker, The hitch hiker doesnt get a whole lot of pressure so it should pull out, 2ton should stay in the hole anyways. Just fill the hole with epoxy then press it into the uncured epoxy.
Elken
The 1/8 oz. size doesn't use the pull pins. You use a piece of wire with a loop to go over the hook and the other end straight. After pouring & painting you could add a loop to the exposed end and clip the hitchhiker to the loop. Or just clip to the hook eye... Or get out the dremel and modify the mold so that the hitchhiker fits...
dampeoples
I use a drill bit in that size head, you could mold it with the bit in there, pull it out, then epoxy the hitchhiker in there afterwards.
siebler_custom_baits
Like Dampeoples said, Same concept as a pull pin, Other options for pull pin replacements are in a thread only a few spots down. Guess i should have clarified that the origonal poster would have to modify techniques and use something in place of the weedguard instead of simply saying pull pin. Gloomisman
I posted up about this awhile back. But I also made my 1/8 accept a fiber weedguard. You can use a drill bit inside the hitch hiker and it will hold. Just lay it in the mold and attach the hitch hiker to the hook. You will get some over flow of lead around the bottom of the HH sometimes. It can be peeled off.
miketr20
Thanks guys, ill give some of those options a try!!
Terry Anderson
Funny. I just poured some of these today...in 1/8 ounce! I put plumber's putty in the weedguard hole, just to where it meets the head. I then lay my STRAIGHT wire in the putty. I almost for got, I put a very small kink in the end of the wire so it won't pull out of the head. Pour the jig, take a pair of pliers and wrap(twist) the wire around a small finish nail and wah lah.Cut off the excess wire and you are ready to paint the head. When I get it perfected, I will post pics in the gallery.
ominousone
just finished this to where I'm happy... I dremeled a slightly larger hole for the hitchhikers and put finishing nails in where the weedguard or pin would go. Came out great. I'm stoked.
