dwendt1978
Been thinking of buying a Lowrance 522c IGPS but wanted to know if it's worth the 650.00 price tag. I fish a lot of smaller lakes in the 400 acre and smaller. I fish 2 major rivers alot and wanted to use the gps to mark stumps and underwater hazards so I can navigate up river much faster than I can now. I have a 102c up front and a little el cheaper in back. If gps is only accurate to about 2 meters at times, is it a bad idea to count on it to show me exactly where a stump is that I found before?? Or should I just buy a standard graph and save some dough? Thanks.
Fish_N_Fool
I bought the Lowrance m56 a year ago and love it. I use it for marking underwater structure, dangerous waters (hazards), I even mark ever big fish I catch for future referance. I got mine new off Ebay for about $200 off the list price. If I were you I would check out ebay for the model you want. If you buy new its as good as the one in the store and has the same warrentee. Just make sure you know that the cheapest list price is and bid accordingly.
Triton 176
I just bought a lms 520 wich is better than the 522 because the 522 is a dual freqinze where the 520 is not wich gives you a better bottom degree of 60% insted of 20% wich i was told by a lowrance tech.I was told for fresh water fishing the 520 will be better than 522 for me.Hope this helps.I would call lowrance and ask yhem wich one will better suit you between the 2 the lms520 or lms522. rhahn427
First, you don't need the dual frequency for lakes unless you are going past several hundred feet. The 200mhz is what you need. Second, all GPS's are only accurate to only 2-3 meters. You're talking about 6-9 feet. I have 3 df/gps's and they get me close and I can position right overhead a n jig if I want ......... without the GPS I could be 30 or 40 ft away or more from structure I want to find. GPS to me is invaluable.
texasbass1
Buy the 520, and if you need something more accurate than 6' I would tie a jug to the stump. I have a 332c and it can put me right on top of the structure I mark.
