gtlegs
My dad gave me an old rod and reel a while back, recently I decided to find out some things about it. I already know about the reel, a pflueger nobby. The rod is giving me a lot of trouble now. On the reel seat, it says Phantom. The rod is only about 4'6" long. At the base of the rod there is some writing, but it is mostly covered in thread wrappings. I can make out *antom* for phantom I'm sure, and *llenge* Im guessing challenge???? There are also three bold letters *OML*. The neatest thing about this rod is it is square. I dont know about vintage rods so this could be common. It is a clear fiberglass (Im guessing) blank, but again it is square. Can anyone help me with some information about this gift? -Trey
KcDano
Phantom Products, Inc made a variety of fiberglass rods, including round and square. They haven't drawn much interest from collecters as of yet. Started production in the late 40's after the war as best I know of.
