miki
They call them super shad on barlowstackle http://www.barlowstackle.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=6&User_ID=3928507&st=8675&st2=64777404&st3=65558663&Product_ID=1671&CATID=54 but can't find the real source of them, and i know they make many other colors as well, than what they have on barlows. Thank you!
SwampBaits
http://www.alluringbaits.com Alluring baits sell some. I don't know who makes them!?! I wonder if alluring baits supplies barlows or maybe the other way around...... no clue!
nova
If the baits are being sold by different companys under their own names; then the bait is a generic. There's a company in Birmingham, AL called Action Plastics that produces baits like that. I don't know if they are making this particular item. www.novalures.com
SwampBaits
If you notice barlows and Alluring Baits sells basically the same items. It's always a toss up as to where they get their inventory! I've never heard of Action Plastics before.
nova
When I had my tackle shop in the 90's I used to buy from them. Action is a division of another company(can't remember the name just now). I may have it in the shop; I'll check tomorrow. Most of their business was with the Orient. www.novalures.com
siebler_custom_baits
Lots of companies have made these type of shads. Mister Twister, Cottee, and endless others. They are often sold as Sassy Shads.
MDC
I also have some with an H&H Tackle logo
Tubeman
Barlows makes an interesting statement that these injection shad bodies look more realistic than painted ones. They must be talking about Action Plastics stuff. Funny, I think painted hand pours like Mattlure's sunfish are way more realistic looking...just my opinion

Tubeman
I also have a mega sized shad body we are going to be producing soon for the Musky market. One is 9" and the other 13" ! The first silicone molds will be ready tomorrow and I'll post my first pour shortly thereafter. I will have the hooks poured into it as well, just need to get the jighead design finished
nova
Miki; I looked around but I couldn't find any order books from those folks. I must have turffed them out. I'll check back through my files when I get a chance to find an old invoice. www.novalures.com

rixon529
Their designer series patterns are very cool. I'd like to figure out a hand pour method to achieve that!
Senkosam
Lurecraft has quite a few shad molds in different sizes. You might want to ask them to look at the photo to see which one they sell. I would thing the mold would have to be made of silicone to get the boot tail out.
nova
Frank, I just finished 4 POP molds of a 5 1/2" shad that I designed and the tail comes out quite nicely. You can't just rip it out; but if you take care it comes out no problem. I've also come up with a neat way to pour it. I'll post some pics in a few days. www.novalures.com
Tubeman
Just did a few quick pours from our new Shad mould. We had a wooden model carved and painted. Its was covered with RTV silicone in a pine frame, the 13" shad used around 3 pounds of silicone !!! Nil, your right about getting the tail out...the wooden model took lots of care to get the tail section out. Now its time to design a good jighead that can be added when the lures is poured. nova
Mike; my master mold had to be made in 2 pieces as I also carved a master from pine and sealed it. Nice looking baits by the way. www.novalures.com
Senkosam
Nova, I recently made a two part mold for the same design and I no longer worry about ripping the thin tail connection or leaving half of the boot in the cavity. I suspect you use oil for easier release. I put the shad on its side into wet POP, grease the surface, and add next layer of plaster. The tail pours fine with one, hot plastic pour because the boot isn't deep in the cavity. Larger shads are okay; it's only the small slider grubs I have problems with, which is why I'm investigating using RV. BTW Tubeman, what do you rig those giant muthas on.! nova
Frank, I never grease my molds. I used to seal them with epoxy but recently I've been using the Elmer's glue(3 coats). www.novalures.com

nova
The only time that happened to me Frank was when I scraped my fingernail on the top of the mold.(I coat the top a couple of times to protect from spillage sticking to the POP.) I've been waiting for something to happen because in my experiance something that is this easy to apply must have a down side.lol Haven't seen it yet though. www.novalures.com
Tubeman
BTW Tubeman, what do you rig those giant muthas on.! I'm working on a jighead this week, it will have to put in the shad along with a stinger wired on 150 lb downrigger wire
