Magic Man
Hey guys, We make one of these type baits as well. I never claimed fame for inventing it rather than taking a good idea and maximizing it to it' s greatest potential. In my opinion Rad Lures views all companies making these baits as competitoin merely because they realize there product is inferior and lacking quality. We ordered a few chatterbaits soon after the debut last season and it took several months to receive them. When I first saw them I noticed a definite use for them on the CA delta. While we were waiting for several months for our chatterbaits to arrive, we began producing our own line of them (we joined the crowd). We did extencive research regarding patent info. and came to the conclusion that if somebody came along and modified our design slightly that there was nothing we could do. Isn't that how we have the products we have today, the American way - to take one design and make it the best. Shame on Rad Lures, they even have their's made over seas now to cut the cost even greater. I'm in agreement with you guys on this, my attorneys and I believe they have no ground to stand on. Nevertheless I continue checking the status of there patent apeal. We are open to any tackle co. for advise, there is no reason to be greedy these days seeing how there is an abundance of business to go around. I believe if your product is unique and the quality is there the fish and the fishermen will do the rest! Maybe Rad Lures should concentrate on making better products than giving everyone else a hard time. By the way my chatterbaits did finally arrive - I wonder if they have a return policy! Please let us know if we can help in any way.
TCCustom
I know of a Pro fisherman that had dinner with the owner of Rad lures. They are going after the name and the blade. Any blade that has 6 sides they are saying is in violation of the patent. If the blade is different then that I understand that it is ok. This is the only info I have gotten. The name and the bend in the blade, not the shape.

Dungeonhawk
So was the 2nd letter identical to the first? Honestly, they can come after me for triple the profits ive made. Ive sold like 30 total. If they want to take me to court for 150 bucks or something, bring it on. Ill represent myself and they will hire lawyers. Its just so stupid. CullinHogs
I spoke with rads attorney at length last week, They do not have and are not trying to patent the hexagonal shape of the blade. They are however going after anybody who uses the hexagonal blade. So after trying to figure out that doubletalk, I asked "so all I have to do is get a blade with fewer or more sides on it and I will not be bothered?" "Yes." SO PLOP GET BUSY! Also, dont use the name.
